Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Carroll County Criminal History. Reading a page, submitting a search, or otherwise using the website means that you accept every condition below. If you disagree, you must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with a local, Illinois, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site provides directions to Carroll County, Illinois record sources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of government. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, conducts official checks, or files documents for a user.

Its purpose is to identify the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, Illinois Sex Offender Registry, and other sources that maintain relevant records, along with optional outside research tools. Public dissemination of Illinois conviction and criminal-history information is addressed by 20 ILCS 2635 and 20 ILCS 2630.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you agree not to:

  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar tools against the pages
  • Harass, stalk, or threaten someone with information obtained here
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Violate any applicable federal, Illinois, or local law
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into a system or restricted area
  • Disrupt site performance or prevent access by others

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use this site or a linked tool to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone; such conduct may also be criminal. Illinois Sex Offender Registry information is provided under the Sex Offender Community Notification Law, 730 ILCS 152, for public-safety awareness. It must not be turned into vigilantism, harassment, an employment blacklist, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no consumer report, credit report, or official background check. Our advertising partners and this site are not services for evaluating applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. You may not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

When a lawful purpose requires such a check, use the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General explanations of Carroll County records cannot determine how an Illinois charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing rule applies to a specific matter. Consult a licensed Illinois attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

The site is supplied "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges may be filed or dismissed, and records may later be sealed or expunged. Updates and gaps are therefore unavoidable. No page is an official statement by the Carroll County Circuit Clerk, Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, or any government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Judici, Illinois agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search services. We do not control a destination's content, availability, price, or data practices and accept no responsibility for them. Review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Carroll County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative material from that content.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your site use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Illinois law governs these terms, including applicable principles of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in Illinois.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
