Use this page to identify the government office that holds an official Carroll County criminal record. Court files are kept by the Circuit Clerk in Mount Carroll, while the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and each municipal police department retain the records they create. Illinois State Police handles statewide criminal-history products. This private site cannot supply those records, so the routes below point to the appropriate custodian.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately operated reference site cannot retrieve criminal records, conduct official checks, correct or remove records, or receive expungement and sealing filings. Those services must come directly from the responsible agency or court.

Need an Official Record?

Carroll County records are split by the office that created or maintains them:

  • Police and incident reports: ask the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Savanna Police, Lanark Police, Mount Carroll Police, or other agency whose officer created the report
  • Court case files: review Carroll County criminal court cases or contact the Circuit Clerk
  • Arrest, booking, and jail material: contact the arresting agency and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Jail
  • Criminal-history records and official checks: use the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification and CHIRP
  • Expungement and sealing: file the Illinois statewide forms with the circuit court that handled each matter

For filed cases and certified dispositions, contact the Carroll County Circuit Clerk, 301 N. Main St., Mount Carroll, IL 61053, 815-244-0230. Public counter hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For sheriff-created reports, bookings, and jail records, use the current address, direct phone number, and hours on the official Carroll County Sheriff's Office page before visiting, because the county publishes the controlling contact details there.
